Concrete Prep 1

Prep Importance

Concrete Prep Part 1: Removing Old Coatings for a Strong Epoxy Garage Floor Bond. Having a properly prepared substrate is key to making sure that the epoxy garage floor coating has a strong mechanical bond to the concrete surface, which is essential for a successful project in Toronto, Mississauga, Vaughan, the GTA, Scarborough, and Brampton. The first thing we need to do is remove any existing coatings that are already present on the surface, which could include old coatings, paint, glue, or a number of other materials that might interfere with the new application of your residential epoxy flooring.

Efficient Removal

We typically opt to utilize mechanical means of removal to get the job done effectively—scraping and grinding are our go-to methods for this task with concrete coating services. When grinding, we often use PCD diamonds, which are perfect for scraping off many tacky substances without creating a huge mess, making the process cleaner and more efficient for your garage floor coating across the GTA. Although they are great at removing old sticky coatings, we don’t use them for surface grinding of the actual concrete to avoid damaging the base.
